How many competitors do you need to beat to win primary provider homecare tenders?

We’re not talking multi-provider frameworks here. We mean tenders where the winner takes all (or nearly all).

Well, there’s a way to find out. Contract award notices published on the Government’s free ‘Find a Tender’ website include the number of tenders received. Take a look and see just how competitive the market is.

A recent contract award notice shows that commissioners received 57 tenders for 3 primary and 5 secondary provider homecare contracts. BFT Consult helped one of our clients participate in this tender. Out of 57 bidders, our client won 2 of the 3 primary contracts and 1 secondary provider contract (of the 3 left available). Not a bad result!

During the summer, we helped another of our clients (a relatively small, family run, and excellent local homecare provider) beat 30 other providers to win the only primary provider homecare contract up for tender, plus 1 of the 2 reablement contracts available. This is absolutely massive for them and we know people will receive an outstanding service from this provider.

We also supported a third client to beat 36 other bidders to win one of two primary homecare contracts in London.

If you want to win contracts in this sector, you need to be ready to compete. Tendering is tough, which is why many homecare providers buy-in specialist support.
